Course Description

The Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance Level 2 Award in Underage Sales Prevention is a full day course, which has been designed for those individuals seeking an introductory level qualification in substance misuse/

The course covers a range of subjects, which include the effect substance misuse has on society as a whole, as well as the physical effects drugs/alcohol have on the individual.

The subject matter covered means that this course is suited to and useful for learners working or studying in a variety of sectors such as counselling, the health sector, sport and recreation and community work.

The qualification has been accredited by the regulators of England, Wales and Northern Ireland (Ofqual, Welsh Government and CCEA) and is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

The qualification is supported by Skills for Health the Sector Skills Council for the UK Health Sector.

Course Duration

The course lasts a full day and candidates are required to complete a Candidate Assessment Pack (Workbook), which is then assessed and sent for moderation.

Course Syllabus

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Legislation
  • Introduction to which substances are commonly misused and why
  • Factors which might lead a person to engage in substance misuse
  • Agencies and organisations providing support and advice to those engaged in substance misuse
  • Recognition of the possible signs of substance misuse
  • The social and personal effects of substance misuse
  • Perceptions and responses to substance misuse

The course has been designed to allow it to be tailored to meet the needs of the client and we are always happy to discuss how we can meet your exact requirements.

Assessment Method

This qualification is assessed by means of a written workbook. Learners must complete the Candidate Assessment Pack, which the Tutor is then required to mark and where appropriate advise learners of areas to improve. Once complete the Candidate Assessment Packs are returned to HABC for moderation and results notified.

Certification

Subject to successful assessment, all students will receive the Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance Level 1 Award in Substance Misuse Awareness (QCF).

Numbers

A maximum of twenty (20) students can be accommodated on this course.

Course Fees

The On-Site cost of this course, per student, is £60.00 (Inc VAT).

The minimum number of students required for an “In-House” course is 6. Smaller groups can be catered for but the cost will be as per 6 students.

Location

We are able to deliver this course at your site, thus reducing your costs in respect of additional time out and traveling.
