Level 2 Award in the Safeguarding of Children

Description

Children are some of the most vulnerable individuals with whom we may come into contact and their welfare must always be our paramount duty.

This Level 2 course is suitable for anyone who works with children. It has been designed to ensure that such personal are aware of and understand their responsibilities with regard to children who may be under their care.

The course will provide a firm foundation and allow those attending to increase and improve their knowledge of the issues relating to the safeguarding of children. In so doing it will provide a thorough overview of how to recognise the warning signs of abuse, and provide the knowledge of how such concerns need to be addressed. This knowledge should not only increase the confidence of those attending the course but also better equip them to undertake their roles more effectively.

Duration

This is a one-day course and consists of 6 contact hours of theoretical and interactive group tasks. Dependant on the student’s prior experience there may be a requirement for some pre-course work. In such an event support and guidance can, if required, be provided to the student.

Syllabus

The course syllabus includes the following topics:

  • Introduction to safeguarding children and child protection
  • Types of abuse
  • Neglect
  • Recognition of abuse and/or neglect
  • Actions to take in cases of suspected abuse and/or neglect
  • What to do if a child discloses abuse
  • Effective record keeping

Certification

Subject to successful assessment, all participants will be issued with a Level 2 Award in Safeguarding Children. It is strongly recommended that all students attend an annual refresher course.

Course Numbers

A maximum of 20 students can be accommodated on this course and each participant must be aged a minimum of 16 years or above.

Assessment

All students will be subject to on-going assessment during the course and they will then be required to sit a theoretical, multiple-choice question test paper.

Location

We are able to offer this course at your location, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises, thus reducing your costs in respect of additional time out and travelling.
