Course Description

Employers are well aware of the importance of complying with Health & Safety legislation and of the need to ensure the safety and welfare of their employees. One of the ways of achieving this is by the provision of effective and relevant training and to assist in this AAA Safety Training are pleased to be able to offer a range of Health & Safety training courses, including the Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment.

This qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for conducting risk assessments at low risk premises. It covers the principles of risk assessment, the relationship between hazard and risk and requires learners to use the knowledge learned on the course by undertaking a risk assessment, therefore laying a
foundation for further development as a risk assessor.

The course syllabus includes the following topics:

  • The nature of risk
  • Relevant Legislation
  • Penalties
  • Duties and Responsibilities of Employers & Employees with regard to the identification and control of workplace risk
  • The relationship between Hazards and Risk
  • Principles of Risk Assessment
  • Risk Assessments
  • Conducting Risk Assessments including practical exercise
  • Control Measures

If your organisation has a specific area of training that is not included, or you require a more in-depth session then we can accommodate you by providing additional training in that particular subject.

Course Duration

This qualification is usually delivered over two-days. It is recommended that the knowledge element of the qualification is completed on day one of the course and that day two is dedicated to the production of a risk assessment. Whilst, there is some degree of flexibility in the delivery of this course HABC have stipulated a minimum of 7 contact hours in the delivery of this qualification.

Assessment Method

In order to gain this award learners must successfully complete both parts of the examination:

  • Part 1: Multiple choice examination 30 questions lasting 1 hour. Learners must achieve 20/30 in order to pass.
  • Part 2: Practical Assessment. Learners are expected to undertake a risk assessment, which will be internally assessed by the centre and externally moderated by HABC.

Progression

Learners successfully achieving this qualification may wish to progress to further qualifications, such as:

  • HABC Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (QCF)
  • HABC Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (QCF)

Training can be conducted Off-site at a training venue organised by AAA Safety Training. Please refer to the Course Price List for details of cost.
