Course Description

Employers are well aware of the importance of complying with Health & Safety legislation and of the need to ensure the safety and welfare of their employees and those affected by their business. One of the ways of achieving this is by the provision of effective and relevant training and to assist in this AAA Safety Training are pleased to be able to offer a range of Health & Safety training courses, including the Level 2 Award in Moving People Safely.

This accredited qualification is ideal as a refresher course or for new starters working in areas where the assistance and movement of people is a prerequisite part of their role. It is underpinned by the safe principles of moving and handling and recognises the special skills required when assisting and moving people. Subjects covered include safe manual handling, manual handling risk assessment principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety.

Please that there is no requirement to have attended the Basic Manual Handling Course prior to undertaking this course.

The course syllabus includes the following topics:

  • Introduction to Manual Handling & Safe Moving of People
  • Manual Handling in the Workplace
  • How Manual Handling operations can cause risk and harm
  • Manual Handling & Moving Hazards
  • Legislation and Guidance
  • Manual Handling Techniques
  • Techniques for the Safe Moving of People
  • Risk Assessment
  • Safe use of Hoists and other Equipment e.g. Slide Sheets
  • Practical Applications
  • Team Handling and Communication

If your organisation has a specific area of training that is not included, or you require a more in-depth session then we can accommodate you by providing additional training in that particular subject.

Course Duration

This qualification requires learners to complete 20 guided learning hours and is normally delivered over two-days

Assessment Method

This qualification is made up of two units and each unit is assessed in two parts:

  • Part One – Assessed through two, 30-minute, 15-question multiple-choice examination. Candidates must achieve at least 10 correct answers to pass this element of the qualification.
  • Part Two – Assessed through a competency-based assessment. Candidates must practically

Progression

Students, achieving this qualification will be able to progress to:

  • HABC Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (QCF)
  • HABC Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (QCF)

Location

Training can be conducted Off-site at a training venue organised by AAA Safety Training. Please refer to the Course Price List for details of cost.
