Course Description

The Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance Level 2 Award in Underage Sales Prevention is a half-day course, which has been designed for those individuals working in a variety of roles relating to retail or in licensed premises. It provides information on legislation relating to age-restricted products e.g. alcohol, tobacco, knives, lottery tickets etc, including bar and counter staff in pubs, clubs, restaurants, off-licenses, supermarkets and convenience stores, and how to prevent the unlawful sale of such products. The course also addresses the skills required to refuse underage sales in an effective manner.

The qualification has been accredited by the regulators of England, Wales and Northern Ireland (Ofqual, Welsh Government and CCEA) and is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

Course Duration

The course lasts a half-day and concludes with candidates sitting a theory based assessment.

Course Syllabus

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Legislation relating to the sale and purchase of age-restricted products
  • Reasons why the law restricts the sale of certain products
  • Which products are age-restricted by law and the legal age-restrictions which apply to the sale of certain products
  • How to prevent the sale of age-restricted products
  • The legal penalties for employers, employees and customers, which apply to the unlawful sale and purchase of age-restricted products
  • Procedures for challenging for proof of age documentation
  • How to refuse the sale of age-restricted products to minimise the risk of conflict
  • How to manage conflict arising out of challenges and refusals
  • The benefits of recording admission and sales refusals

The course has been designed to allow it to be tailored to meet the needs of the client and we are always happy to discuss how we can meet your exact requirements.

Assessment Method

Students are required to undertake and successfully complete a 15-question multiple-choice question paper examination. The duration of the examination is 30 minutes. Successful learners must achieve a score of 10 out of 15.

Certification

Subject to successful assessment, all students will receive the Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance Level 2 Award in Underage Sales Prevention (QCF).

Numbers

A maximum of twenty (20) students can be accommodated on this course.

Course Fees

The On-Site cost of this course, per student, is £40.00 (Inc VAT).

The minimum number of students required for an “In-House” course is 6. Smaller groups can be catered for but the cost will be as per 6 students.

We are able to deliver this course at your site, thus reducing your costs in respect of additional time out and traveling.
