Level 1 Award Principles of Health & Safety in the Workplace Course

Course Description

The Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance Level 1 Award in Principles in Health & Safety in the Workplace (QCF) focuses on the importance of maintaining health and safety and ensuring that employee actions reduce risks in the workplace. It is intended for individuals working in any environment, including Retail, Manufacturing, Food premises and the Care environment. It is also suitable for those who are returning to work or starting work for the first time.

Students will gain a sound introduction to all aspects of health and safety including legislation, fire procedures, chemical safety, manual handling and personal protective equipment.

This half-day course has been designed to meet the needs of those who are entering the workplace for the first time. As such, it is an ideal introduction to general health and safety for any environment. It is also suitable to form part of a work experience programme, for those personnel commencing employment, or those who require a refresher or update on Health & Safety training at Level 1. The course provides the knowledge to enable those attending to develop an awareness of their responsibilities with regard to ensure a safe working environment.

Course Duration

The course duration is a half-day and can usually be delivered at a time to suit your needs.

Course Syllabus

A range of subjects is covered including:

  • Understanding the Importance of Health & Safety in the Workplace
  • Understand the scope of risks and hazards in the Workplace
  • Understand the range of Workplace conditions that can affect Health & Safety
  • Understand the requirements for Workplace procedures
  • Reporting of accidents and incidents
  • Responsibilities of an employee

If your organisation has a specific area of training that is not included, or you require a more in-depth session, then we can accommodate you by providing additional training in that particular subject.

Certification

Subject to successful assessment, all participants will be issued with a Level 1 Award in Principles of Health & Safety in the Workplace (QCF).

Numbers

A maximum of twenty (20) students can be accommodated on this course and each participant must be aged a minimum of 16 years or above.

Assessment

This qualification is assessed by means of a 15-question multiple-choice question examination. The duration of the examination is 30 minutes.

Successful students must achieve a score of at least 10 out of 15 questions.

Progression

Students on successful completion of the course are eligible to progress onto the appropriate Level 2 Award.

Course Fees

The On-Site cost of this course, per student is £35.00 (Inc VAT).

The minimum number of students required for an In-House course is 6. Smaller groups can be catered for but the cost will be as per 6 students.

Location

We are able to deliver this course at your location reducing your costs in respect of additional time out and traveling.
