Asbestos Awareness Training Course

Course Description

Employers are well aware of the importance of complying with Health & Safety legislation and of the need to ensure the safety and welfare of their employees. This is particularly important with regard to ensuring that employees are suitably trained to deal with the hazards posed by asbestos.

Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 details that any employee who is liable to be exposed to asbestos must be given adequate information, instruction and training to ensure they can safeguard themselves and other employees and carry out their work effectively.

One of the ways of achieving this is by the provision of effective and relevant training and to assist in this AAA Safety Training are pleased to be able to offer a range of Health & Safety training courses, including the Asbestos Awareness Training Course.

This interactive and comprehensive half-day course has been designed to assist employers in meeting their legal obligations under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. The course is designed to provide employees with the knowledge needed to understand the risks associated with asbestos provides the necessary knowledge to enable those personnel who successfully complete it to carry out the duties of a Fire Warden in a professional and competent manner. The course is suitable for those who may come into contact with asbestos as part of their daily work activity e.g. general maintenance staff, plasterers, gas fitters, electricians, shop fitters, painters & decorators, and heating & ventilation engineers.

The cost of the course includes Course Materials, Training Manual and Certificate.

Course Syllabus

The course syllabus includes the following topics:

  • Introduction to Asbestos – what is asbestos & the nature of the problem?
  • Types of Asbestos – What are the different types of asbestos?
  • The Risks & Possible Health Effects – How dangerous is asbestos and what are the harmful effects?
  • Legal Aspects and Responsibilities – Employer responsibilities & Employee duties.
  • Risk Assessment – Undertaking a risk assessment and the steps to follow.
  • Control Measures – What are the hierarchy of control measures and other associated procedures used to protect employees?
  • Emergency procedures – What are the actions that should be taken on discovering asbestos?

If your organisation has a specific area of training that is not included, or you require a more in-depth session then we can accommodate you by providing additional training in that particular subject.

Minimum of 3½ hours

Assessment Method

20 question written examination

Location

Training can be conducted either at your premises, or if more convenient Off-site at a training venue organised by AAA Safety Training. Please refer to the Course Price List for details of cost.
